Timbi-Guard TMS - Perimeter Treatment (Slab & Frame) to both untreated and T2 termite resistant treated timber. Treatment upwards of 300mm of perimeter studs & timber frame base plate as well to concrete slab edge. No re-treatment required under normal environmental conditions.

Occasionally on new building work slab penetrations need to be relocated. Timbi-Guard product is applied to the cold joint, slab penetrations and closest timber frames.Timbi-Guard penetrates into the building materials and locks in for the life of the build with the active Boron ( a non toxic mineral salt) that is a stomach toxin for termites. Termites will digest the boron if they tunnel upwards through a developing crack in the cold joint or around a slab penetration.

The easiest way to apply Timbi-Guard on the affected areas is by brushing it on. Unfinished raw wood can be treated directly, while wood that is sealed or painted will need to have that finish removed before treatment can be effective. Timbi-Guard will dry to a clear finish. It will penetrate deep into the wood. Apply Timbi-Guard to all sides of the wood (any exposed wood) for maximum effectiveness, making sure to get into all cracks and crevices.

Timbi-Guard can be sprayed on by using a trigger spray or a pressure spray with a 2 mm nozzle and between 2-3 BAR pressure. Do not dilute Timbi-Guard for spraying purposes. One liberally applied coat will by sufficient to kill the colonies, and protect the wood against future infestations. Top coats can be applied to the treated surfaces after 24 hours.

Drill Into Infested Wood: Drill into the wood until you feel less resistance. This hollow area is usually where the termite galleries are. You will want to drill two to three holes for every metre along the centre of the wood you want to treat. Inject Timbi-Guard with a syringe for 2-5 seconds into each hole.

Subterranean termites are crafty invaders. While they may try to sneak in through various routes, once inside, they target the core of your home — the wood. But here’s where you gain the upper hand, by treating the wood directly with Timbi-Guard, making it an inhospitable environment for termites.It starts with the application of Timbi-Guard to the wood surfaces that are most vulnerable to termite attacks. This powerful combination of Borates and other chemicals, seeps into the wood, creating an invisible shield. When termites attempt to feast on the treated wood, they ingest the termiticide, leading to their demise. Moreover, as termites unwittingly carry this toxic substance back to their colonies, it significantly reduces their numbers. Timbi-Guard wood treatment serves as a robust deterrent and a strategic offense.

Wood-boring beetles can damage wood in and around a home or building. The adult beetles lay their eggs in cracks and holes in the wood and the larvae, or woodworms, eat their way out of the wood over several years. This can result in holes and tunnels in wood structures, outdoor decks, hardwood floors, furniture, etc. If you see white, non-clumpy powder on or near wood, the infestation is most likely active. Woodworms may still be in the wood. • Yellow clumpy powder is a sign of an old infestation, as are emergence holes in the wood. By the time you see emergence holes, the woodworms have probably already matured into adult beetles and left the wood.If the woodworms and beetles have left the wood, you can either seal the wood with a sealant or replace the wood nd support beams. If you have an active infestation, you will need to treat the wood with Timbi-Guard, a borate-based product, to kill the larvae and remove the infestation. If you have wood that was previously infested with woodworms or wood-boring beetles, the structure of the wood may be compromised due to holes and tunnels from the woodworms. Replace the wood if possible.

Wood infestation by fungi is dangerous because it can quickly degrade a wood structure once it has come into contact with them. They cause cracks, leaks, irreparable damage, and even attract wood-decaying insects. Excessive moisture in the wood often attracts a fungal invasion. In this condition, they can easily propagate and colonize the wood. Once the moisture content of your hardwood exceeds 20 to 30 percent, coupled with the temperature of around 40 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the wood-decaying fungi will begin to slowly infest your wood. Although fungi infestations are natural processes, it is still a serious threat since fungi-infested wood attracts wood-destroying insects that can cause severe damage. Also, fungi can cause as much damage as wood pests, such as termites, to wood structures. They can degrade wood, causing cracks, leaks, and even irreparable structural problems.

Here are the NPMA’s top tips to help prevent a termite infestation: ● Keep basements, attics and crawl spaces well ventilated and dry. ● Repair leaking faucets, water pipes and A/C units on the outside of the home or building. ● Repair fascia and soffits and rotted roof shingles promptly and properly. ● Replace weather stripping and repair loose mortar around basement foundations and windows. ● Direct water away from your home or building through properly functioning downspouts, gutters and splash blocks.

It is more difficult to prevent wood-destroying beetles from infesting structural lumber. However, an effective strategy for deterring both termites and wood destroying beetles is keeping firewood or other cellulose (yard waste, branches, tree stumps) off of the ground and stored away from the building.

Demonstrating the penetration and active period of Timbi-Guard The images below serve to illustrate how a simple tumeric test can demonstrate the long- lasting PENETRATION and INSECT AND FUNGI DESTROYING ACTIVENESS of Timbi-Guard when painted on a wood substrate. THE THEORY OF THE SIMPLE TUMERIC TEST and THE CONTROL TEST Pic (1): Because of its very strong colour, tumeric (the spice) is excellent to use as an indicator of the changing of the intensity of its colour. Normally tumeric will stain a wood surface to a lightish yellow. HOWEVER, when put on a wood substrate that was treated with Timbi-Guard, it will react with the active ingredients contained in Timbi-Guard, and turn a deep dark burnt-orange colour.

TIMBI-GUARD - THE SAMPLE WITH ASTONISHING RESULTS (pic 2,3) The top surface of this block of wood was coated in 2013 with Timbi-Guard, and then it was given a top coat of varnish, in order to determine the compatibility of Timbi-Guard with other top coats. The sample was sent to Clariant Laboratories for tests to determine the UV resistance of the varnish. Many years later, 11 years exactly, we used this very same sample to test Timbi-Guard’s penetrative qualities as well as its ability to still actively eliminate/destroy insect and fungi infestations in the wood. If the tumeric turns into a dark- orange, it is a clear, undisputable indication of full blast Timbi-Guard activity in the 11-year old piece of sample wood.

THE TEST Pic (2): In 2023 a simple tumeric solution was dripped on the flat surface of the old Clariant sample. What you see in the picture, is a dark orange spot. The dark orange colour is clear evidence that the Timi-Gauard put on in 2013, is still reacting as deep as 2,5cm below the surface of the wood block. This means this piece of wood was protected against any infestations up to now, and will be as long as it exists. Timbi-Guard penetrates and locks into the wood fibres, thus ensuring life-long protection. Timbi-Guard passes all the tests of time, activeness, preservation and protection. There simply is no oter product like this.
